What do we do?

The International Award for Young People, India is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) and is a full member of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Association. The Award Programme was introduced in India in 1962 with a view to encouraging young people in the country to achieve their full growth potential within the framework of Indian society, to improve their moral, social and intellectual well-being, to ‘Equip them for Life’.
Currently students from over 320 institutions across India participate in The Award Programme. So far over 1,30,000 young people have successfully gained their Awards.
The Award is implemented through Youth Engaging in Society (‘YES’) Centres. These are primarily schools and other educational institutions which are licensed under an Agreement to implement the Award. Various participants are also enrolled as OAC (Open Award Centre) participants.
